Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-24

This Cookie Policy explains how Aphrodite uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) when you use our websites and applications. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We also use comparable technologies such as localStorage and authentication tokens. We group them into three categories: strictly necessary, analytics, and marketing.

2. Your choices

Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the Services cannot function without them. Analytics and marketing cookies are used only if you consent. You can accept all, reject the optional ones, or set your preferences via the cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time:

We re-ask for your consent at least every 6 months. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though strictly necessary cookies are needed to stay signed in.

3. Cookies and technologies we use

Strictly necessary (always on)

Measurement that uses no cookie

Some measurement happens on our servers, without any cookie. When you are signed in and a partner club’s party flyer is shown to you, or you open one, we count it so that the club can see how many members its flyer reached. This places nothing on your device and reads nothing from it beyond the sign-in session cookie the Services already need; we keep totals per flyer, not per member, and the club never learns who looked. Because it stores no information on your device, it does not depend on your cookie choices — you can object to it at aphrodite@aphrodite.is.

Analytics (consent required)

Used to understand aggregate usage and improve the Services. We use PostHog (EU Cloud) for product analytics. PostHog stores a first-party identifier (a cookie named ph_*_posthog and a matching entry in your browser’s local storage) to recognise your device across pages and measure sign-up, activation, and subscription funnels. It is loaded and activated only after you accept the analytics category, autocapture and session recording are disabled, and you can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie banner.

Marketing (consent required)

Used to measure sign-up follow-ups and campaign performance, including capturing an incomplete-signup email for follow-up. This is done by Aphrodite itself; we do not use third-party advertising or marketing trackers, and nothing in this category is loaded before you give consent.

4. Third parties

Some cookies and technologies are set by providers that help us run the Services, including Google (Firebase, Maps Platform, reCAPTCHA Enterprise), Stripe, and PostHog (analytics, EU Cloud). See the sub-processors listed in our Privacy Policy.

5. Changes

We may update this Cookie Policy as our practices or the law change. Updates are posted here and the “Last updated” date is revised.
